Locally Parallel Texture Modeling

چکیده
This article presents a new adaptive framework for locally parallel texture modeling. Oscillating patterns are modeled with functionals that constrain the local Fourier decomposition of the texture. We first introduce a texture functional which is a weighted Hilbert norm. The weights on the local Fourier atoms are optimized to match the local orientation and frequency of the texture. This adaptive model is used to solve image processing inverse problems, such as image decomposition and inpainting. The local orientation and frequency of the texture component are adaptively estimated during the minimization process. To improve inpainting performances over large missing regions, we introduce a higly non-convex generalization of our texture model. This new model constrains the amplitude of the texture and it allows one to impose an arbitrary oscillation profile. Numerical results illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

متن کاملLocally Parallel Textures Modeling with Adapted Hilbert Spaces
This article 3 presents a new adaptive texture model. Locally parallel oscillating patterns are modeled with a weighted Hilbert space defined over local Fourier coefficients. The weights on the local Fourier atoms are optimized to match the local orientation and frequency of the texture. We propose an adaptive method to decompose an image into a cartoon layer and a locally parallel texture laye...
متن کاملShape from Texture using Locally Scaled Point Processes
Shape from texture refers to the extraction of 3D information from 2D images with irregular texture. This paper introduces a statistical framework to learn shape from texture where convex texture elements in a 2D image are represented through a point process. In a first step, the 2D image is preprocessed to generate a probability map corresponding to an estimate of the unnormalized intensity of...
متن کاملEvolution of texture in an ultrafine and nano grained magnesium alloy
The evolution of texture was discussed during the formation of ultra-fine and nano grains in a magnesium alloy severely deformed through accumulative back extrusion (ABE). The microstructure and texture obtained after applying multiple deformation passes at temperatures of 100 and 250°C were characterized. The results showed that after single ABE pass at 100°C an ultrafine/nano grained microstr...
متن کاملLocally stationary wavelet fields with application to the modelling and analysis of image texture
This article proposes the modelling and analysis of image texture using an extension of a locally stationary wavelet process model into two-dimensions for lattice processes. Such a model permits construction of estimates of a spatially localized spectrum and localized autocovariance which can be used to characterize texture in a multiscale and spatially adaptive way. We provide the necessary th...
